Role Type: Informative
The Eavesdropper can target one player each Night to learn what that player said in private chats, if the targeted player has access to any. The Eavesdropper does not learn what type of chat the targeted player has access to or what the other players in the chat have said, they only receive a transcript of the targeted player’s private chat contributions.
If the target the Eavesdropper selects does not have access to a private chat or chooses not to use it that Night, they receive the results “Did not hear anything”. If the Watcher is roleblocked, they receives the results “No Result”.
The Eavesdropper’s results may be flipped in some games. Instead of knowing the target’s identity and trying to assume the chat, the Eavesdropper may know what chat they’re receiving snippets from but not know the identity of the participants.
Player A: Eavesdropper
Player B: Mafia Goon
Player C: Mafia Goon
Night One: Player A decides to eavesdrop on Player C.
Player B and Player C have the following chat in their private mafia channel:
Player B: “I think we should kill Bob tonight.”
Player C: “No, I think Sue is more of a threat.”
Player B: “Okay, I’ll submit the form for Sue.”
Player A is contacted at the end of Night to be informed that “You overhead Player C saying: ‘No, I think Sue is more of a threat.'”
