Surprise! You’re all still alive. Congratulations.

With so few people left, this is where things really get serious. Your actions toDay may be the deciding factor in whether or not your team wins or loses this game. So, you know, no pressure or anything. It’s not like everyone is watching your every move and counting on you to pull through… 😂

There’s only one announcement for this week: I will be flying back to the States to be with my family this weekend. As a result, I am unlikely to be around most of Saturday (and potentially early Sunday). If you have any questions or concerns that pop up during that time, please direct them to Dana. (I should hopefully be back for deadline though.)

It is now Day Five.

You have until Sunday 9pm BST to discuss suspicions and cast your votes. Once the deadline has been reached, the person with the most votes will be eliminated.

Good luck!

Well… that’s a lot of deaths.

Now I know what you’re thinking: Asti, how are we supposed to figure out who to trust when people are dying left and right and all this nonsense is going on? And the answer is, well, the same way you would any game!

Yes, the buttons are a bit distracting… but they don’t need to be. It’s about perspective. Do you know what happens when a button is pushed? No, not unless you’re the person who pushes it. But do you ever know what happens each Night with everyone’s roles? Nope, not apart from your own. The buttons are an unknown, uncontrollable element that you may be tempted to solve, but in the grand scheme of things they don’t matter to your win condition. You want to eliminate those who are out to hurt your team. You don’t need to know what’s happening with the buttons to do that.

The same can be said about the deaths that are happening during the Day. Do you know what’s causing those deaths? Not necessarily. But even with deaths that happen at Night you can never be 100% certain of the cause. The importance isn’t figuring out why players are dying, it’s figuring out who is causing the players to die.

I guess all I’m trying to say here is don’t give up hope. This game is crazy, but it’s not over. You can do this. Town, Not Town, whoever you are. You can still win.

Oh, and on an unrelated note, there’s now a FAQ page! While all of it has been answered in Games previously, it’s possible you may have missed it since it’s not always touched on every game. And if there’s anything you think should be added, let me know!

It is now Day Four.

You have until Sunday 9pm BST to discuss suspicions and cast your votes. Once the deadline has been reached, the person with the most votes will be eliminated.

Good luck!

Well, Day Two was… interesting. It’s uncommon players intentionally end it on a tie like that. How do we feel about it now that it’s a new Day? Do you feel like the extra Night with everyone helped move you closer to a decision? Or are you regretting not having the extra information an elimination would’ve provided? Either way, you didn’t manage to make it through the Night without a casualty (and what a Night it was). RIP Anne. 💔

I have just a couple of announcements for you toDay before we get things going.

First, a small reminder that social media activity involving the Games is strongly discouraged. Liking and retweeting posts by the Twitter account is okay, but making commentary or providing any sort of reactions is prohibited. We know most players mean no harm when doing these things, but as it can influence game play and not everyone has a Twitter account, we find it best to limit all Game dialogue to the blog.

Second, the following player(s) will likely be less active during Day Three due to non-game-related events:

  • Megan Rose will likely be less active during the first half of Day Three, but should hopefully be present for the weekend.

As always, if you need a Pass from participating in a Day (or know you’ll be less active and would like a general announcement made) don’t hesitate to contact us via Twitter or email.

It is now Day Three.

You have until Sunday 9pm BST to discuss suspicions and cast your votes. Once the deadline has been reached, the person with the most votes will be eliminated.

Good luck!

Well, Day One… happened. Way to go eliminating one of your players with a protective role, Town. Bravo!

Haha, kidding. I’m just giving you a hard time. In a game like this, every loss is going to hurt. And hey, let’s look on the bright side: what you’ve learned from the events of Day One may give you a little more to work with when placing your votes Day Two. And no Night deaths! That’s good, right? Right?!

There’s no important announcements for toDay, so you’re free to keep doing what you’re doing. If you have any questions, concerns, or just need a place to let out some of the insantiy the Games are causing in your mind, remember to reach out to a mod (Asti or Dana) or The Bookish Games twitter account. We’re always happy to help!

It is now Day Two.

You have until Sunday 9pm BST to discuss suspicions and cast your votes. Once the deadline has been reached, the person with the most votes will be eliminated.

Good luck!

Game Master’s Notes

Welcome to Day One of The Bookish Games: Bring Your Own Character 2. Over the next few weeks, you’ll be working towards achieving your goals, slowly eliminating one another while navigating the twists built into this game. We hope you’ll love what we have in store for you.

Before we begin, a few notes and reminders:

  • Please make sure you have read your Role email prior to commenting in the game.  (That first comment requirement is still in effect for this edition. Hint hint.)
  • It is also assumed by now that you have read and agreed to The Rules. Any violation of the rules will result in a warning, followed by a disqualification. (Don’t forget, you can get a pass if there’s a certain week you need to be excused from the participation rule. Just contact us!)
  • It is only Day One so there’s not much to work with yet. Our main advice is just to have fun and vote however you want in the beginning. Even if Day One ends with you murdering a teammate (oops), you will still learn a lot of valuable information by observing how the other players react and vote.
  • Player pronouns are listed next to player names on the Current Game page. Please do your best to use a player’s preferred pronoun when referencing them.
  • When voting, please type your vote in ALL CAPS and on a separate line from the rest of your text so it is easy for Dana and me to spot. Votes are not final until the deadline, so you can choose to switch who you vote for throughout the Day. You can also choose not to vote. Votes can be canceled anytime by commenting CANCEL VOTE.
  • There is no option to “reply” to other comments on this blog. This is to ensure that all comments appear in chronological order. If you want to respond directly to someone else’s comment, we recommend starting your message with “@PlayerName:”.
  • We are currently using British Summer Time for game deadlines. A countdown has been added to the blog menu to assist players in knowing how much time they have left to vote. The countdown will switch from “x days” to “x hours” once below the 24 hour mark. (You can also use this link to see when the deadline occurs at your local time, just add your location and it’ll do the math for you)

As always, don’t be afraid to contact us if you have any questions or just want to chat in private about what’s going on during the Game. We are here to help and want to make this as fun of an experience as possible! If it’s urgent, keep our time zones in mind: Asti lives on BST (UTC+1) and Dana on CST (UTC-5).

Note for returning players: Inge is taking a break from moderation duties. She will be following along informally but please direct your questions to Dana and myself instead. Thanks! 🙂

It is now Day One.

You have until Sunday 9pm BST to discuss suspicions and cast your votes. Once the deadline has been reached, the person with the most votes will be eliminated.

Good luck!
